Running Does a Body (and Mind) Good

August 30, 2012 § Leave a comment

On days like today, when I have one of “those” runs that leave me feeling elated, I try to stamp that emotion into my memory so when I have one of those “other” runs, I don’t have to dig too deep to pull myself out of a funk.
A good run can do wonders. It’s no miracle-maker, but it can definitely make an impact. Sometimes I get caught up in my daily routine, or I get really bummed about a nagging injury that just won’t seem to go away and it can be easy to slip into a negative state of mind. Not today. Today I am paying close attention to everything that made my run great. From the beautiful yellowish-orange moon that was slowly setting in the morning sky to the annoying pain in my right foot that didn’t make an appearance for the entire run.

Today – and everyday – I am thankful that I am able to run.
