Day 6 – 30 Days of Running

Rolling out of bed at 4:40 a.m. (or earlier) only seems to make sense to us crazy folks who are trying to cram in a quick run/workout before 1) the Arizona summer temps get out of control and 2) running late for work becomes a bigger issue than just a few minutes here and there. Today’s run was quick and (mostly) easy. My adductors were pretty sore from a workout yesterday, so it felt like it took a little longer to warm up than usual, but after the first mile I felt a tad looser and appreciative that I was only doing a quick two miles.

Why the short distance? Well, the more I thought about this 30-day challenge, the more I realized that I need to ease myself into running every day. I typically run three or four times a week (more often just three) so I’m not sure how my body is going to react to running seven days a week for four weeks. The way I figure it, if I keep the mileage to a minimum on the days I would usually do some other cross training or take a rest day, I’ll be able to keep the injuries and possible burnout at bay. Hopefully this strategy works.
