Winning isn’t everything

March 8, 2010 § 2 Comments

When I first started running 5ks and other races I never went into them thinking I would “win” the race. I was competing against myself and against my own time.

This past weekend, I ran a personal best for a 5k race. I didn’t come in first, but it sure felt like I won. I set my mind on beating my best time and I did it. I overcame my doubts that I could be any faster and was suddenly energized with more speed than I had run a 5k in before. It’s amazing what believing in yourself will do for you!

How exciting?! It took me a bit to do the math today when you told me. ;O) That is so great…it’s hard to get going sometimes, but when it’s a good day and your legs feel in tip-top shape, there’s nothing to hold you back. Good job!

Do we need to screen you for “performance enhancing” chemicals Mandy?
