Summer Solstice Party

June 27th, 2011 § 2 Comments

This past weekend, the hubs and I threw a party to celebrate the Summer Solstice. I decided several weeks back that it would be a nautical-themed party with a fun mix of blue, white and a touch of yellow. The party was great and the spread was a huge hit!

This summer, I have found that I am relying heavily on the few pieces of turquoise-colored jewelery as goto’s for many of my outfits. There’s something about the bright energy of the color that I absolutely love, which is why I thought I’d share some fun finds that I’d be more than happy to have in my accessory repertoire.

Dainty with a pop of color.

Chunky, yet elegant.

Add a pop off color that peeks through the layers of the summery waves in your hair.

The look of hammered gold gives this ring a lovely rustic-chic feel.

If you’re looking for more great turquoise jewelry, just check out etsy - tons of great pieces to choose from!

This has been one crazy-busy week and I still have SO much to do for my Summer Solstice party tomorrow. Enjoy your weekend!

Fun Finds Friday

For this week’s fun finds, I thought I’d share some of my favorite blogs that I follow. I heart Google Reader (if you don’t use it yet, give it a try!) and look forward to checking it each day for all the great new posts. Here are a couple of the blogs that have provided me with many recipes, tips and ideas!

The Finer Things
I am a sucker for stationary. I wish I had an occasion every week that allowed me to use some of the ideas that are posted on this blog. Jennifer features tips, how-to’s, etiquette, advice and more. Her party/event color boards are delightful and lovely – check out this inspiration board for a Yellow & Black Birthday Party!

My Life as a Mrs.
Kristina (Tina) is so cute and I adore her personality. The colors on her blog actually inspired me to update my header! She shares great recipes for burgers, Mexican food, salads and everything in between. Her husband has also making guest appearances every Friday to contribute drink recipes. How cute is that?

Centsational Girl
Kate is a DIY-er who loves to share her project and design ideas. I love her post on June 15 for styling a bookcase! I have a couple of unruly bookshelves that could definitely use a makeover and I found a lot of inspiration in the images she shared. On her about page, she even has a section of reader favorites which is a great place to start if you want to check out her blog!

My Google Reader list is growing almost every day, so I promise to revisit this topic and share more fun blogs for you to peruse. Have a great weekend!
